The Broadwater training session on Tuesday the 14th of October is cancelled, due to an away fixture that evening. The Tuesday evening sessions will be back on as usual on Tuesday the 21st of October.
We have been experiencing some issues with our contact page, that has resulted in a lot of emails going astray - although it appears that we now have the problem amended. If you have made an attempt to contact us in the last few weeks, please re-submit your enquiry on the contact page.
We have had some changes for the days and times of the men’s summer training at the University of Surrey. This Sunday’s session, 6th of July 2008, will run from 10:00-12:00. Next Sundays session is cancelled, with the rest of the Sunday sessions running again from 10:00-12:00. Full details of the summer sessions can be found on our sessions page.
Last weekend saw over two thousand young athletes from across Surrey descend on Guildford to compete in 14 different sports, in the 12th annual Surrey Youth Games. The basketball competition was one of the highlights in yet another successful games. Guildford was well represented, with 23 players playing in the event. The girls team finished first, in an exciting final, with the boys team placing fifth. Coach Glenn Harrop was delighted with the days achievements: "We managed to take two good sized quads of players, with very little basketball experience outside of school competition. Both teams played some great basketball, with the girls managing to finish first in their competition. All the players had un, and I'm sure this will be a springboard for many of them to further basketball teams and opportunities". Our senior men's training sessions on Tuesday evenings at the Broadwater School have now come to an end. Over the summer, the senior men's training sessions will run twice a week at the University of Surrey's sports centre. For more details on the session times and days, visit the sessions page. The sessions will cost £5 at reception, and will vary between scrimmage sessions, and team training sessions. This week has seen the 2008 season come to an end. It's been a mixed year for our teams entered into senior Surrey leagues. The first team finished a disappointing sixth place in the Surrey Men's Premier Division. As with the previous season, despite flashes of good basketball, we were unable to find any consistency throughout the season, often struggling with player numbers. The second team 2008 campaign began with a series of heavy looses - but managed to find its way mid season. Playing fantastic, high paced basketball, the season was closed out with four straight victories - putting us second place in the Surrey Men’s First Division.
